IT Advisory Council (PITAC)
The President of the Republic of Bulgaria Mr. Georgi Parvanov has established the President's IT Advisory Council (PITAC), with Presidential Decree No. 93.
Mr. Veni Markovski - President of the Internet Society in Bulgaria has been appointed as chairman of the Council. Other members include: Dr. Vinton G. Cerf (USA), Piritta Sorsa (Finland), Donald M. Heath (USA), George Sadowsky (USA), Esther Dyson (USA), Richard Delmas (France) as well as the following Bulgarians: Dimitar Ganchev, Elisaveta Gurova, Tanya Yavasheva and Ilia Bojinoff.
The PITAC is an advisory body to the President of the Republic.
PITAC provides the Bulgarian President with expert opinions and information for the Internet current and future developments.
Among the aims of the Council are promoting Internet usage by the Bulgarian citizens, development of e-government services, computer literacy in the education, provision of applied and scientific information for new information technologies; supporting free access to information, as well as freedom of speech.
The members of the Council work for the President in personal capacity and pro bono.
The Council has its own web page, and its members meet over the Internet.
