SPOUSE OF THE PRESIDENT
Desislava Kirilova Radeva was born in Burgas on 9 July 1969. She studied at the Geo Milev English Language School in Burgas, and then at the University of National and World Economy in Sofia, majoring in "Finance and Credit". During her student years, she worked as an assistant to the Minister of Agriculture in the period 1991-1995.
Desislava Radeva developed her professional career in the field of public relations, communication and marketing management. She participated in the organisation of various campaigns and projects for Bulgarian and international companies represented in Bulgaria. She was a marketing manager at the Workshop for Civic Initiatives Foundation, engaged in the social development of various communities. She worked in the process of preparation of popular Bulgarian television productions.
From 2011, she worked at the Air Force Command of Bulgaria. In 2014, she was responsible for the external and internal communication of the institution. In the same year, Desislava Radeva initiated and promoted the air show "This is us", dedicated to the 102nd anniversary of the Bulgarian military aviation, which gathered a crowd of over 100,000 at Vrazhdebna airport in Sofia. Author and screenwriter of numerous short films about the Air Force of Bulgaria.
In 2016, she took an active part in the presidential campaign of her husband Rumen Radev.
Mrs. Radeva's initiatives are aimed at preserving and developing the Bulgarian language and literature, popularising Bulgarian traditions, art and culture. The focus of her activity is support for children, children's healthcare and education. Together with her husband, she annually hosts a traditional graduation ball for young people placed in foster families and in family-type accommodation centres, part of the "Support a Dream" initiative. She participates in the events dedicated to the "Bulgarian Christmas" charitable initiative under the patronage of the President, in support of children in need of diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation.
She speaks English and Russian.
