Rosen Plevneliev: The Republic of Kosovo has a place in the European Union and NATO
Bulgaria will continue to support the implementation of European and Euro-Atlantic perspective of the Western Balkans. The future of the Republic of Kosovo is as a worthy member of the European Union and NATO. This was said by President Rosen Plevneliev, who today held a meeting at 2 Dondoukov Boulevard with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, who is visiting Bulgaria.
At the meeting, President Plevneliev said that building a stable and independent Kosovo would contribute to regional security and prosperity in the Balkans. He emphasised Bulgaria's readiness to share its experience in the process of European integration. "The path of European and Euro-Atlantic integration has no alternative for Kosovo and reflects the common will of Kosovar society, Prime Minister Thaçi said. He expressed his appreciation for the constructive participation of Bulgaria in the EULEX and KFOR missions.
According to Prime Minister Thaçi, bilateral co-operation between Bulgaria and Kosovo is very good, but both sides can achieve more in the fields of economy and education. The Kosovo Prime Minister invited Bulgarian companies to invest in the energy and mining industries of the country. President Plevneliev noted that Bulgarian companies are increasing their interest in investment projects in South ?astern Europe, and universities in the country have excellent traditions and international recognition for the quality of education offered.
Prime Minister Thaçi conveyed to President Plevneliev the good wishes of his Kosovo counterpart Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga and an invitation to visit Kosovo at a time convenient to him.
