The Bulgarian Head of State Was Awarded with Poland’s Highest Decoration – the Order of the White Eagle
The President of Poland awarded President Rosen Plevneliev with Poland’s highest decoration - the Order of the White Eagle.
The order is awarded as a sign of acknowledgment of the Head of State’s contribution to the active bilateral dialogue and the development of the partnership between the Republic of Bulgaria and the Republic of Poland.
The Order of the White Eagle was officially instituted by King Augustus II in 1705 and is awarded to Poles with exceptional merits to their country and also to high-ranking foreign representatives for their contribution to the development of the bilateral relations with Poland.
In the years of the communist regime the Order of the White Eagle was not awarded. The first person to be awarded the White Eagle after its reinstatement in 1992 was the Holy Pope John Paul II.
