Bulgaria Will Work So As to Strengthen the Bilateral Relations with Bangladesh
Bulgaria consistently supports the strengthening of the political dialogue and the economic ties between the EU and the Asian countries and Bangladesh is an important participant in this process. This is what President Rosen Plevneliev said, who held talks today at 2 Dondukov street with Sheikh Hasina, prime minister of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh , who is visiting Bulgaria to take part in the “Global Women Leaders’ Forum: Inspiring the Next Generation.” Bulgaria is among the first countries that recognized the independence of Bangladesh in 1972.
The Head of State emphasized that the projects on ensuring better transport and energy connectivity between Europe and Asia will create better economic opportunities, which should be taken up. The participation of Bulgaria and Bangladesh in the Asian-European forum (ASEM) also creates favorable conditions for deepening the cooperation between the two countries, it was pointed out at the meeting.
The modernization of the energy infrastructure and exploiting the potential of the renewable energy sources is a priority not only for Bulgaria, but also for Bangladesh, it emerged at the meeting. President Plevneliev pointed out our country’s good experience in using renewable energy sources, which can also be shared by Bangladesh. Agriculture and food production and the ICT sector were highlighted as the most perspective sectors for the development of the bilateral cooperation.
Ensuring access to high-quality education is a key factor for achieving a high economic growth and raising the standard of life, was the common position shared by President Plevneliev and Prime Minister Hasina. The Head of State emphasized that our country is an established educational hub in the region of Southeastern Europe and the Bulgarian universities offer high-quality educational programs and internationally recognized diplomas for a lot of foreign students.
Within the framework of Sheikh Hasina’s visit to Bulgaria a lot of bilateral documents for broadening the economic partnership will be signed and also a Memorandum for cooperation between the Diplomatic Institute at the Foreign Ministry and the Diplomatic Academy at the Foreign Ministry of Bangladesh.
