President Rumen Radev: The Portuguese Investments in Plovdiv Create Hundreds of Jobs and Prospects for the Young People
The Portuguese investments in Plovdiv create hundreds of jobs and provide young people the opportunity for development and additional qualification. This is what Head of State Rumen Radev said at the opening of the Portuguese investment project – a new production capacity in a glass plant in Plovdiv. The investor voiced his intentions to expand the production of glass packages in Bulgaria, and also to establish its own regional office in Bulgaria at a working meeting of President Rumen Radev with representatives of the Portuguese business within his official visit in Lisbon in January 2019.
“Bulgaria and Portugal have common priorities for fighting the demographic crisis, for making the young people stay in the countries, for a more visible presence in the European economy. Although geographically we are in the two ends of the EU, we are very close in our ambition to become leading countries in this sphere,” the Head of State emphasized. Rumen Radev had a phone call with his Portuguese counterpart Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa immediately after the ceremony. Not only should the political relations between Bulgaria and Portugal develop in all aspects, but also should the economic relations and investments do so, particularly in state-of-the-art technologies, Rumen Radev said.
In the President’s words, state-of-the-art technologies are implemented in the new production capacity in Plovdiv in compliance with the highest ecological standards, and an essential part of the investments goes for waste-treatment plants. The Head of State called on all investors in Bulgaria to follow this positive example and hailed the owner of the company Carlos Moreira da Silva for the progressive approach and the fulfilled commitments to expand the production capacities in Bulgaria.
