President Rumen Radev Held Talks with Industry and Trade Minister of Russia Denis Manturov
President Rumen Radev met today Denis Manturov- Industry and Trade Minister of the Russian Federation, who is also co-chair of the Intergovernmental Commission for economic, scientific and technical cooperation.
The Head of State received the Minister at 2 Dondukov street, after the 17th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission was held yesterday. President Radev and Minister Manturov voiced expectations that the successful results of the meeting will have a positive impact on the bilateral trade relations. The cooperation in the sphere of economy, energy, trade and tourism was discussed at the meeting.
The Bulgarian Head of State said that the top political meetings in the past two years are a clear signal that the stagnation in the bilateral relations between Bulgaria and Russia has been overcome. Evidence is also the signing today of the agreement for expanding the gas transit network from the Turkish-Bulgarian to the Bulgarian-Serbian border, which concerns the implementation of the Turkish Stream pipeline on Bulgarian territory.
The President highlighted the importance that the energy projects should be implemented on a pragmatic and mutually-beneficial basis. Rumen Radev welcomed the fulfillment of the activities related to extending the period for exploitation of the 5th energy block of the Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant and voiced hope for the successful completion of the measures on its 6th block in the indicated time schedule.
The bilateral military-technological cooperation and the license issues related to it were also discussed at the meeting. President Radev voiced Bulgaria’s expectation that the issue can be resolved by adopting a rational approach, beneficial for both countries, which should not be made contingent on other issues from the bilateral partnership.
