President Rumen Radev: Bulgaria and Greece Set an Example that the Balkans can be an Area of Peace, Good-neighborly Relations and Fruitful Cooperation
Bulgaria and Greece are not only an axis of stability, but also set an example that the Balkans can be an area of peace, good-neighborly relations and fruitful cooperation. This is what Head of State Rumen Radev said at a meeting with his Greek counterpart Katerina Sakellaropoulou held in Athens. Rumen Radev congratulated Katerina Sakellaropoulou on assuming the presidential post in the Republic of Greece and voiced Bulgaria’s ambition to further deepen the top-level political dialogue and develop the friendly relations between the two countries.
The current challenges both Greece and Bulgaria are facing should be considered challenges the whole EU is facing. The essence of the EU is its solidarity, Rumen Radev emphasized. In the President’s words, the challenges of the future make defending the united European space of values, of cultural, social and economic achievements a common task all of us should address.
The Bulgarian Head of State congratulated President Sakellaropoulou on the success of Greece in attracting strategic investors in the IT sector and highlighted this area as particularly promising in bilateral cooperation. In Rumen Radev’s words, our country has both experience and expertise in the IT sector, which creates favorable opportunities for implementing successful joint projects.
The potential of the Three Seas initiative for transport, energy and digital cohesion in Eastern Europe was also among the highlights of the meeting between the two presidents.
Rumen Radev invited Katerina Sakellaropoulou to visit Bulgaria at a time convenient for her.
Within his visit to Athens, President Rumen Radev will deliver a lecture before the European Public Law Organization on the topic of “Universal human values and the rule of law – pillars of the European development.”
