Radev: Bulgaria is interested in Hungary's policies for sustainable demographic development
Bulgaria is interested in the experience of the sustainable demographic development policies implemented by Hungary. This is what President Rumen Radev said at a meeting with Hungarian President Katalin Novak. The two heads of state held talks in Riga on the sidelines of the Three Seas Initiative summit in Latvia, which is hosting the international forum this year.
Without overcoming the demographic crisis, it is impossible to achieve real social and economic development with an eye to the future, Rumen Radev said. The two discussed various aspects of Hungary's policies aimed at supporting separated families and providing social support to socially disadvantaged people. The Hungarian experience in supporting young families to get their own home, in providing tax breaks to encourage fertility and in forgiving student loans under certain conditions was shared. The role of education was also highlighted as a key factor for social integration, promoting responsible parenthood and obtaining social support.
The Bulgarian head of State expressed his gratitude to President Novak for the excellent attitude of the Hungarian state towards the representatives of the Bulgarian national minority, who are well integrated in the social, economic and cultural life of the country. According to official data, around 6,000 Bulgarians live in Hungary.
