Rumen Radev: European countries should have the possibility to make optimal use of their own energy resources in the upcoming heating season
Bulgarian head of State Rumen Radev held a video session today with European Council President Charles Michel in the run-up to the EU Brussels summit on 20 and 21 October, where this country will be represented by President Radev. Before the summit, the European Commission is expected to propose specific measures to tackle the energy crisis.
In the course of the talk, President Rumen Radev pointed out that against the background of deepening economic and social instability, it is important to ensure energy security for the EU citizens and businesses during the upcoming heating season. In the coming critical months it is necessary for the countries to maintain their energy autonomy and to have the opportunity to make optimal use of their own energy resources in line with the current European requirements, the Bulgarian head of State stressed.
Radev informed Charles Michel of the checks undertaken by the Bulgarian institutions and services in order to refute the speculations linking Bulgaria as an alleged accomplice to the Kerch Bridge explosion. The Bulgarian state had rejected all false allegations about this act, the President said.
