President Holds Telephone Talk with EC Vice-President
President Rumen Radev today conversed over the phone with the Vice-President of the European Commission Valdis Dombrovskis, in charge of an Economy that Works for People
The Bulgarian head of State highlighted the measures taken by the caretaker cabinet to ensure the sustainability of public finances and macroeconomic stability. Avoiding high public debt and a reasonable budgetary policy in the context of the crisis are crucial for the country's sound financial indicators.
Radev pointed to Bulgaria's role in the energy stability in Southeastern Europe through the export of electricity to the neighbouring countries as well as through the gas interconnectivity. This is a key factor for curbing inflationary processes not only in Bulgaria but in the whole region against the backdrop of the energy crisis Europe is facing, the President added. He pointed out that last October the trend was reversed and a decline in inflation was noted in the country.
Radev and Dombrovskis also discussed the process of Bulgaria's full-fledged European integration and the need for solidarity and support from the European Commission in this process.
