President: The Success of our Olympic Science Teams Gives Hope that Bulgaria Can Develop as a Modern Country
The young people of the Bulgarian Olympic teams in natural sciences continue to glorify our country around the world, and the medals they have won give us hope that Bulgaria can become a modern European country. This is what President Rumen Radev said during the traditional Annual Meeting of the Bulgarian Olympic Science Teams. The event brought together the participants in the prestigious international competitions, their teachers and team leaders.
In the Head of State's words, the annual meeting confirms the belief that curiosity, discipline and purpose should be the main factors for the development of our education and for Bulgaria's prosperity. The President expressed his gratitude to the young people and their teachers for proving the enormous potential of this country in disciplines such as mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, astronomy, astrophysics and linguistics. Your medals bring national pride and unite us, but they also give us hope that we are a country that stands on par with others and can lead with knowledge and skills, President Radev said, adding that our medal winners are contesting and succeeding in competition with countries that have greater resources, and this is a real feat. The Head of State congratulated the teachers, leaders and mentors of our Olympic teams for their ability to teach young people knowledge, fight and consistency.
President Radev said that there is a need for greater commitment of state institutions to the efforts of the science teams. You are the most important investment in our future, so that Bulgaria can be prosperous, with a strong economy and institutions, a country that looks boldly ahead to an increasingly dynamic and high-tech future, Rumen Radev said.
In 2023, at international, European and Balkan Olympiads and competitions, Bulgarian science Olympians have won 90 medals - 17 of them gold, 32 silver and 41 bronze.
