President Rumen Radev and WIPO Director General Darren Tang Discuss the Mechanisms for Intellectual Property Protection in Bulgaria
President Rumen Radev and the Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Daren Tang, discussed at a meeting in Antalya the protection of intellectual property and the improvement of the mechanisms by which companies in Bulgaria get access to funding and to protect their ideas and the products and technologies they develop. WIPO is one of the UN's specialised intergovernmental organisations and has 193 member states from around the world.
The Head of State highlighted Bulgaria's ambitions to strengthen the ties between science, education and business, which will qualitatively change the models of interaction between them and create sustainable prospects for small and medium-sized enterprises and young people in Bulgaria. Daren Tang expressed WIPO's readiness to conduct more training and intellectual property protection programmes in this country, targeting young people and their ability to implement their innovative ideas faster in the field of production.
There was a common view that the protection of intellectual property guarantees jobs created, promotes employment and technology exchange. In October this year, Daren Tang is to visit Bulgaria on the occasion of the celebration of 130 years of intellectual property in Bulgaria and 75 years of the Patent Office and President Radev noted the possibility of holding a forum on intellectual property protection in Bulgaria during this visit.
