Rumen Radev: Bulgaria Highly Values Its Partnership with the Basel Institute for Good Governance to Increase Effectiveness in the Fight against Corruption
Bulgaria highly values its partnership with the Basel Institute for Good Governance to increase the effectiveness of the fight against corruption and will continue to rely on its expertise on this highly sensitive topic for Bulgarian society. This is what Head of State Rumen Radev said at a meeting in New York with Dr Peter Maurer, President of the independent Swiss organisation specialised in countering corruption and financial crimes. The cooperation between our country and the Basel Institute for Good Governance is based on a project within the Bulgarian-Swiss cooperation programme.
During the meeting, the sides discussed the possibilities of continuing the partnership in order to improve the legal basis regulating the activities of the institutions, in order to increase transparency and accountability in their work, as well as to adapt the national legislation in view of Bulgaria's ambitions to join Schengen and the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development.
