Radev: Bulgaria and France Have Always Had an Intensive and Fruitful Dialogue at the Highest Political Level
The meetings of the presidents of France, Ukraine and the US president-elect in Paris give hope that diplomacy will finally be recognised as the main means to end the war in Ukraine, Rumen Radev says in response to a journalist's question
Bulgaria and France have always had very good diplomatic contacts, an intensive and fruitful dialogue at the highest political level. This is what President Rumen Radev told Bulgarian journalists in Paris today in response to a question whether the opening ceremony of the restored Notre Dame Cathedral also marks the beginning of a new path for diplomacy between France and Bulgaria. The Head of State attended the ceremony together with his wife, Desislava Radeva, at the invitation of President Emmanuel Macron.
The President highlighted the recognition of nuclear energy as green energy, as well as the partnership in the field of industrial cooperation and investment as significant results of the bilateral diplomatic dialogue between Bulgaria and France. An example of this is the activity of the French company Lateecoere in Bulgaria, which has over 350 Bulgarian employees and produces components for Airbus aircraft. Rumen Radev expressed his expectation that this production will continue to grow and will lead to increased investments from France in Bulgaria.
President Radev stressed in response to a question that President-elect Donald Trump's participation at the ceremony in Paris is an important sign for Europe and he expects him to take concrete steps in the interest of the strategic partnership between the US and Europe as soon as possible after he forms his administration.
President Emmanuel Macron's meetings with President-elect Donald Trump and with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Paris give hope that, albeit very belatedly, we will finally recognise diplomacy as the main means to resolve the war in Ukraine, Head of State Rumen Radev further said when asked about the upcoming talks. As you know, what I have been talking about since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, after more than one million dead and wounded, maimed people and a devastated and destroyed country, is finally starting to happen, the President added, stressing that diplomacy is the only way out for the cessation of hostilities. There is no military solution to this conflict and why did we have to come to this point - 1 million people dying in the heart of Europe and the question is who will pay this price, President Rumen Radev further stressed.
