President Rumen Radev Meets with the Ambassador of the State of Palestine
Today President Rumen Radev met with the Ambassador of the State of Palestine to our country, H. E. Nasri Abu Jaish. During the meeting, which was held on the initiative of the Bulgarian Head of State, Rumen Radev welcomed the agreement reached on the ceasefire in Gaza and the release of the hostages. During the session, the identified phases concerning the practical implementation of the agreement were also discussed.
President Radev expressed the hope that the agreement reached would lead to the creation of the necessary conditions for the urgent provision of the necessary humanitarian aid to the civilian population of Gaza, while guaranteeing the unconditional release of all hostages. It was hoped that, in the long term, the practical implementation of the agreement reached would reveal the prospects for the establishment of a lasting peace based on a two-State solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, living together in full respect of the requirements of international law. In this context, the possibilities of supporting the reforms set out in the Palestinian Authority's Development and Reform Plan as the sole legitimate representative of the Palestinian people were also examined.
In the light of the milestones for the release of the Israeli hostages provided for in the agreement, some specific aspects were discussed concerning the process for the release of the two Bulgarian citizens and the crew of the ship "Galaxy Leader", detained for more than a year by the Ansar Allah movement in Yemen.
