Radev Discusses with Representatives of Framatome Opportunities for Deepening Cooperation between Bulgaria and France in Nuclear Energy
President Rumen Radev discussed the opportunities for deepening cooperation between Bulgaria and France in the field of nuclear energy with representatives of the French company Framatome. The focus of the meeting was the supply of nuclear fuel to Bulgaria, the partnership to ensure nuclear safety and cyber security of nuclear reactors, the management of spent nuclear fuel and the opportunities to strengthen cooperation in the field of education. The Ambassador of the French Republic to Bulgaria, Joel Meyer, also participated in the meeting.
The President underlined Bulgaria's aspiration to achieve sustainable solutions in the energy sector, which will guarantee its energy independence and security. The Head of State identified energy diversification as a key priority for the country and highlighted the importance of nuclear energy in this regard. The recognition of nuclear energy as green energy is also of great importance for increasing energy stability in Europe, it was underlined during the meeting.
Radev also highlighted Bulgaria's 50 years of experience in the safe and successful operation of nuclear power plants, as well as the availability of the necessary training facilities and competent specialists, through which Bulgaria plans to upgrade its nuclear potential.
