Bulgarian President Rumen Radev and His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan to Host in Sofia Aqaba Process Balkans III - Heads of State and Government Level Meeting
The Republic of Bulgaria and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan will co-chair a High Level Meeting in Sofia under the auspices of the Aqaba Process initiative. At the invitation of President Rumen Radev and His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan, heads of state and representatives of governments, intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations will discuss the security environment with a focus on the Balkans in early April this year.
The "Aqaba Process for the Balkans III" forum will build on previous Aqaba Process meetings that focused on that topic - in 2016 in Aqaba, Jordan, and in 2018 in Tirana, Albania. The aim of the forum is state leaders from Southeast Europe, together with representatives of governments, institutions and partners of the Aqaba Process, to analyse the security architecture in the Balkans, discuss regional mechanisms for information sharing and coordinate efforts to combat irregular migration, terrorism, radicalisation and extremism.
The Aqaba Process Initiative is a series of international meetings launched by His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan II in 2015. Its aim is to maintain international and regional coordination and cooperation in the fight against terrorism, extremist ideologies and radicalization through a comprehensive approach. In order to promote open dialogue among the participants of the Aqaba Process, discussions are held in an informal setting.
