President: The Macedonian Almanac Documents the Historical Truth about the Eternal Cause of Macedonian Bulgarians to Preserve Their Millennial Identity and Language
Rumen Radev participates in the presentation of a phototype edition of the book of the Macedonian Patriotic Organisation on the 85th anniversary of the original
Not only young people, but also all politicians should unfold the Macedonian Almanac - this work of our ancestors, even though they were in emigration, in order to learn how the Bulgarian root, spirit and language have been defended. This was stated by President Rumen Radev at the official presentation of the phototype edition of the valuable work the Macedonian Almanac, published in 1940 in Indianapolis, IN, by the Macedonian Patriotic Organisation (MPO). The event took place at the rectorate of Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski.
In his greeting, the Head of State pointed out that the Macedonian Almanac is an invaluable testimony to the important and eternal cause of the Macedonian Bulgarians and their communities in the United States, Canada and Australia to preserve the millennial Bulgarian identity and language. On the pages of this exciting book, we see how an entire era unfolds with its aspirations, excitement, ideas and ideals, Radev said. The President added that the book presented our compatriots united in the ranks of the Bulgarian National Assembly, who do not remain indifferent to their fatherland, building Bulgarian schools, churches, and community centres across the Ocean. Thus, they remain strongly committed to the centuries-old struggle for freedom and justice of the Macedonian Bulgarians.
The head of state expressed gratitude to the initiators of the reprinting of the book - the Macedonian Patriotic Organisation, the Macedonian Scientific Institute, the Institute for the History of Bulgarian Emigration in North America, and Tangra Publishing House. He also thanked everyone who supported the initiative with donations and involvement.
In order to move forward as a society aware of its roots, and to build relations of good neighbourliness and mutual trust with our brothers from the Republic of North Macedonia, we must stand on the historical truth. And this almanac unambiguously shows it, said President Radev. In his words, the preservation of Bulgarian identity is a process that must develop not only in our country, but also around the world and in our diplomatic missions. Because another point of view is presented, which is completely at odds with the historical truth, which is documented and proven brilliantly in the Macedonian Almanac, Rumen Radev concluded and noted the significance of the reprinting of the book by the Macedonian Patriotic Organisation.
